Sister City Celebration of 30 Years

The Vladimir-Canterbury Sister City Association is celebrating its 30th anniversary! Join us at nightshop on April 3 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. for an evening of food, music, and conversation as we toast the past and future 30 years. Honored guests will include founders from Vladimir, Russia; Canterbury, England; and Bloomington-Normal who were instrumental in fostering this unique tri-city sisterhood. Enjoy tastes inspired by the flavors and traditions of our international partners, and sounds provided by Glenn Wilson (Professor of Music at Illinois Wesleyan University) and company. Cocktail attire required.
Tickets (cost $50) will be available March 6.
Follow on Facebook for updates, but plan to come help us celebrate the VCSCA’s 30th birthday with friends from all over!
30 Years Strong

The Vladimir/Canterbury Sister City Association (VCSCA) was organized in 1986 as an extension of the citizen-to-citizen movement of Sister City International. In 1988 our first citizens’ delegation visited the USSR to select a sister city. Vladimir was proposed, along with a tri-city relationship with Canterbury, England. In 1989, a delegation from Vladimir traveled to Bloomington-Normal to sign the formal agreement.
This year, the VCSCA celebrates 30 years as an exemplar of international cultural exchange and community collaboration. In recognition of this milestone, the VCSCA has big plans for 2019. Including the launch of its new website. Welcome!
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming projects and programs. And if you are interested in being a part of the Association’s next 30 years, we’d love to hear from you!
